3 Reasons Behind BJP’s Landslide Victory In Madhya Pradesh

3 Reasons Behind BJP’s Landslide Victory In Madhya Pradesh. Everyone thought that this was going to be Mama Ji’s last innings in Madhya Pradesh. But Ladli Behna’s Mama Ji proved everyone wrong by winning 163 seats of total 230 seats. BJP choose 3-term MLA Mohan Yadav as the 19th Chief Minister of MP. Ujjain South MLA Mr Yadav was education minister in Shivraj Singh’s cabinet.

What was the 3 reasons behind his victory?

  1. Women-Centric Schemes

Shivraj Singh Chauhan aka Mama Ji was already popular among women voters but he tried to increase his popularity among females through women-centric schemes.

It’s because of the participation of female voters has increased so much in Madhya Pradesh that today its almost equal to male participation.

One of the most important schemes the Madhya Pradesh government launched that was the main factor of their landslide victory was Ladli Behna Awas Yojana. Under the scheme every poor women age 23-60 will receive Rs.1000 in their account per month if the annual income of their families is less than Rs.2.5 lakh annually and they are not income tax payees.

This scheme was so effective that a BJP district officer bearer in Narsinghpur said, ‘Ladli Bhena saved us or else we would’ve wiped out from the state’.

Shivraj Singh Chauhan also launched The Ladli Show on YouTube where he talked about the efforts he put to help poor and young women. Almost 2 months ago, he announced that 35% of government jobs would be reserved for women.

After winning the elections, Shivraj Singh Chauhan himself told the media that schemes like Ladli Behna and Ladli Lakshmi won the hearts of people of Madhya Pradesh.

  • Organization

The Congress Party’s organization couldn’t compare with the BJP. Congress tried hard to stay united and use its star campaigners. But on the ground, it’s not easy to compete with the BJP in Madhya Pradesh.

A BJP leader said, Congress couldn’t survive till the last moment’. He said on the voting day, BJP’s 90% booth committees were functioning from 8:30 a.m. while Congress’s booths started at 9:30 a.m. He said the BJP’s immobilisation was behind the high voter turnout.

In the past, Congress used to win many seats in the Gwalior-Chambal region because of Jyotiraditya Scindia. But now that Scindia is with BJP, Congress has weakened in that region as well. In other regions, Congress grassroots workers couldn’t compare with the BJP. The main reason behind this is RSS.

In Madhya Pradesh BJP relies heavily on RSS groundwork. This is especially true in the Malwa region of Madhya Pradesh where RSS had a huge influence since Kushabhau Thakre’s time who was the National President of BJP 25 years ago.

Since BJP has been in power in Madhya Pradesh for so long their organisation and control over resources have increased. This is why Rahul Verma, a fellow at the Centre for Policy Research, says that Madhya Pradesh has become a dominant party state, similar to BJP’s influence in Gujrat & TMC’s influence in West Bengal.

  • Hindutva

Congress tried to implement “soft” Hindutva in their campaign to attract the voters but it was countered by two reasons. First, if Congress uses soft Hindutva, the voter will say, why not go to the original BJP?

Second, according to political analysts, the impact of Udaynidhi Stalin’s statement on Sanatana Dharma it was “against social justice and equality” in Tamil Nadu also impacted Madhya Pradesh.
