Politically Biased Union Budget 2024-25

Mamata Banerjee, West Bengal chief minister, described the budget as ‘anti-poor’ and ‘politically biased’. She believes Bengal has been deprived, the budget is not poor-friendly and directionless. Banerjee alleged that the budget just serves a political mission.

Stalin said Tamil Nadu was completely ignored in the budget which only favored certain states. He pointed out that Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman forget all the states except those that sustain the government, like Bihar and Andhra Pradesh. The Tamil Nadu CM highlighted that there are no funds for Chennai Metro Rail Phase-2 and Metro Rail Schemes for Madurai and Coimbatore.

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav opined that the budget neglects the interests of the youth and farmers. About development measures for Bihar and Andhra Pradesh, he believes it’s the ruling party’s political compulsion to save its government.

Yadav questioned where there were similar allocations for the state of Uttar Pradesh. Moreover, AAP also criticized the budget, referring to it as ‘jhunjhuna’ – nothing for the farmers, youth, women, and employees – people are getting nothing from it.
