Stree 2, Vedaa, Khel Khel Mein To Clash This August, Exhibitors Angry. Stree 2, Vedaa, Khel Khel Mein To Clash This August, Exhibitors AngryCinema lovers will have a slew of films to watch come Independence Day as three movies, Stree 2, Vedaa, and Khel Khel Mein, are set for release on the same day. This has left exhibitors fuming as their business will be affected. They believe it’s ludicrous as the films won’t be able to get the desired audience, thus impacting business.
The exhibitors highlighted that no films releasing in the week of August 23 – August 30, and want one of the films to premiere at the same. There are also concerns that distributors will bully them into giving their respective films more slots, as similar incidents have been observed in the past.
Akshaye Rathi, film exhibitor and distributor, said filmmakers believe getting one-third of the screens in a crowded weekend is good enough. He said it’s unfair for them to expect more screens and more timings from exhibitors.
Raj Bansal, distributor, and exhibitor, opined that the weakest film suffers the most in such situations. He said every producer wants their film to be the biggest blockbuster, likening it to gambling. Bansal asserted that the most sensible move would be to defer the film to a week or two, to take advantage of full showcasing.
One of the cinema owners in Bihar Vishek Chauhan described the release of three films on the same day as unreasonable. He said the films will not be able to do business.
