Bangladesh Interim Government Flags Sheikh Hasina’s Statement

Bangladesh Interim Government Flags Sheikh Hasina’s Statement. Bangladesh’s interim government is keen to strengthen bilateral relations with India but has drawn flak to ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina urging people to observe August 15 as the anniversary of the assignation of her father Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as a national mourning day.

In an X (formerly Twitter) post, she asked people to place wreaths at the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum. Hasina’s post came a day after the Bangladesh interim government canceled the country’s August 15 national holiday.

Bangladesh’s Foreign Affairs Advisor Touhid Hossain said the former prime minister’s statement is not conducive to India and Bangladesh relations. He highlighted that Hasina’s statements emanating from India are not conducive to fostering better bilateral relations.
