Los Angeles Wildfire 2025: Fresh Wind, Fresh Fire, LA Braces For Severe Fire Weather Conditions

Date:

LA is grappling with fresh fire after the National Weather Service warned about a particularly dangerous situation as all fire departments and law enforcement agencies prepare for the worst-case scenario. In recent weeks, Los Angeles has seen more than 12,300 structures and about 60 square miles of land consumed by the wildfire. It also left 24 people dead.

And now the National Weather Service (NWS) has warned people about winds with extremely dry conditions, and low humidity – meaning increased risk of fire. The LA NWS urged people to be prepared to evacuate if the need arises.

“Avoid anything that can spark a fire,” it said. Karen Bass, Los Angeles Mayor, told the media that they are making urgent preparations for the next round of winds. They are providing resources and helping people apply for disaster relief loans. Bass said firefighters from LA and across the state and country are saving lives.

She added their firefighting resources are positioned in strategic holding locations. The LA Department of Water and Power is deploying water tankers to sustain water supply for the firefighters. Moreover, the LA Department of Water and Power has over six billion gallons of water available in four open-air reservoirs for aerial firefighting support.

Meanwhile, firefighters have been trying to contain the fires around Eaton and Palisades. They have made progress due to dropping winds, and are now preparing for the windstorm forecasted for Ventura County, San Fernando Valley, and San Gabriel Valley. LA Fire Chief Kristin Crowley said they will not let their guard down.

American actor and filmmaker Mel Gibson who lost his $14.5 million home in the fire added more fuel to conspiracy theories saying the wind conditions were just right and that some people are ready and willing to start fires. He alleged that arsonists were either commissioned or they were just acting of their own volition. Gibson believes the devastating fires may have been started on purpose.
