Breaking: Narendra Modi Hands Resignation To President Draupadi Murmu. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his entourage of ministers have handed their resignation to President Droupadi Murmu. This comes after the Union cabinet suggested the dissolution of the 17th Lok Sabha.
Modi is expected to take oath as Prime Minister of India for a third consecutive time on June 8. This will happen only if the BJP manages to get support from its NDA coalition partners. The Bharatiya Janata Party bagged a total of 240 seats in the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections falling short of 33 seats, while the Congress won 99 seats and the INDIA bloc cruised through with 227 seats.
Meanwhile, President Murmu requested Modi to continue as caretaker PM till the new government takes up office.
NDA Ally Parties Meet
National Democratic Alliance party leaders – Amit Shah, Nitin Gadkari, Rajnath Singh, Nitish Kumar, Chandrababu Naidu, and Chirag Paswan are expected to lead talks to form a coalition government. JDU’s Nitish Kumar flew down to Delhi to show his support to the BJP, Naidu is also expected to arrive in Delhi.

Last evening, Modi lauded BJP and its allies saying the NDA can form the next government. He described the Lok Sabha Elections Results 2024 as a ‘victory of the world’s largest democracy’, downplaying the tough fight put on by the INDIA bloc and the slip in votes. Modi is adamant about carrying on BJP’s legacy for a third time put his brand at the fore.

The INDIA bloc is also looking at getting its members into a consensus to form the next government. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said the people of India have it clear that they don’t want Narendra Modi and Amit Shah to lead India.
He highlighted that the Congress has a new pro-poor vision for the country whereby people, through their votes, unanimously stated that they do not want Modi and Shah to run India. About talking to JDU and TDP, Gandhi said they (INDIA bloc) will not say anything without asking the opinion of its allies.
He asserted that everything would be decided by the alliance itself. Meanwhile, Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddav Thackery highlighted that the election results showed that the BJP can be defeated. He said the Bharatiya Janata Party and Narendra Modi are not invincible.
