Cinema lovers are in for a treat this weekend, with the release of Sunny Deol’s action-packed Jaat which also stars Randeep Hooda, Vineet Kumar, Urvashi Rautela, Ramya Krishnan, and Jagapathi Babu, among others.
Jaat marks the Gadar: Ek Prem Katha actor’s entry into the South market. Having grossed Rs 2.37 crore in pre-sales for opening day across India, the film is doing quite well. Jaat is expected to fill the vacuum that Salman Khan’s Sikandar didn’t. Trade experts believe that if the film opens at Rs 10 crore, it will be 40 percent of Sikandar and if it stays at the Rs 10 crore mark, it will lose to Akshay Kumar’s Sky Force.
Jaat is also a first for southern director Gopichand Malineni in Hindi cinema. It’s an unabashedly loud, hero-driven spectacle that is expected to match the exaggerated swagger of South Indian action, with a dash of North Indian machismo.

Jaat Movie Review: Sunny Deol’s Action-Packed
Movie critic Taran Adarsh gave 3.5 stars to Jaat saying it’s power-packed. He said Sunny Deol roars again. “Director Gopichand Malineni, known for crafting solid entertainers in Telugu cinema presents a rooted, rustic tale loaded with mass-friendly moments. The entire half rests on the #SoryBol episode – the highlight of the film.”
Adarsh highlighted that Sunny Deol is terrific, catering to his fan base and the large segment of moviegoers that crave well-crafted entertainers. “The kind of heroism he brings to the screen is sorely missing in most Hindi films today.”
Entertainment editor Amit Bhatia described Sunny Deol’s film Jaat as a typical south-style entertainer like Puspha and KFG. It is powered by raw action, great fight scenes, seeti maar dialogues and brilliant performances. Film trade analyst Sumit Kadel says Jaat is a full-on paisa vasool, a hardcore mass entertainer. It also has a solid story, emotional depth and a villain who matches the hero blow by blow.
