Horror-comedy flick Stree 2 which released last week to raving reviews has raked in Rs 322.5 crore globally and is set to cross the Rs 500 crore threshold in a couple of days. Released with two other films, mainly John Abraham’s Vedaa and Akshay Kumar’s Khel Khel Mein, the Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao starrer is leading the box office.

Stree 2 has been the go-to movie following its release on Independence Day and Monday’s partial holiday of Rakshabandhan. Movie buffs, especially horror and comedy enthusiasts love the film. And it has been applauded globally as well. In no time, Stree 2 will be crunching in Rs 500 crore. Producers will go laughing to the bank as they contemplate its third sequel Stree 3.

Karan Johar Lauds Writers of Stree 2

Producer and director Karan Johar has also celebrated Shraddha Kapoor’s latest film. He says it’s a box office triumph for Bollywood at a time when South Indian films have been drawing more awards and commend for its releases and storyline.

The Student of the Year director described Stree 2 as a juggernaut mega-blockbuster. He believes it’s more than just a commercial success as the film has taken Bollywood to another level. Johar said Stree 2 has given a breath of fresh air to the Hindi film industry. He highlighted its content and connection with the audience.

In an Instagram post, Johar said Hindi cinema has been under scrutiny over the past couple of years. He touched on the sore point of Bollywood movies releasing on OTT platforms skipping cinematic releases because there’s more success in streaming the films. The maker of Ae Dil Hai Mushkil also highlighted the importance of a good story that will resonate with the audience. He said that Stree 2 has it all.
