This is a two-part documentary series. Into the Fire: The Lost Daughter, as the name suggests, is about a mother in search of the truth about her daughter Alexis whom she gave up for adoption and is murdered. The mother (Cathy Tarkanian) tries to piece together the details of her daughter and goes out looking for answers.

Her daughter was killed by the adoptive father. Tarkanian tries to make amends with her murdered daughter by seeking justice. This documentary series is about the consciousness of a mother and her pursuit of justice.

Gifted2017, IMDb 7.6/10

Star Cast: Chris Evans, Mckenna Grace, Jenny Slate, Octavia Spencer, Lindsey Duncan, Michael Kendall

Though released in 2017, Gifted starring Chris Evans is gaining traction. It’s about a prodigy, (played by Mckenna Grace) a child genius who is very, very good in Math. Chris Evans who plays the role of Frank Adler (the uncle-surrogate father) takes care of her.

He is more of a friend than a father-like guardian. They share a happy, dynamic relationship. He tries her to have a normal childhood and enrolls her in a local public school, but she stands out with her intelligence.

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga – 2024, IMDb 7.5/10

Star Cast: Chris Hemsworth, Anya Taylor-Joy, Elsa Pataky, Tom Burke, Nicholas Hoult, Charlee Fraser, Sean Millis

The story continues with Charlize Theron’s character Furiosa in the 2015 Mad Max: Fury Road. This time, the role of Furiosa is taken on by Anya Taylor-Joy. There’s the Green Place, Bullet Farm, and Gas Town, as well as the iconic war rig, but nothing worldly as it’s a post-apocalyptic world.

And Furiosa is just…what can I say? I won’t give away too much away. But it’s worth watching.

His Three Daughters – 2023, IMDb 7.2/10

Star Cast: Carrie Coon, Elizabeth Olsen, Natasha Lyonne, Jay O. Sanders, Jovan Adepo, Rudy Galvan

His Three Daughters is directed by Azazel Jacobs. It’s about three sisters (Carrie Coon, Elizabeth Olsen, and Natasha Lyonne) returning home to their father who has grown frail and is dying.

Old wounds are afresh and there’s a lot of resentment. It shows the brittle relationship that the sisters share. They are very front-up dominant women.

Rebel Ridge – 2024, IMDb 6.9/10

Celebrated novelist Stephen King has reviewed Rebel Ridge as the thinking man’s Rambo. It’s an action thriller, a special kind. Directed by Jeremy Saulnier, Rebel Ridge is about bloodthirsty revenge seekers. So far, the movie has garnered 31.2 million views on Netflix.
