As bewildered Democrats look for alternatives as their presidential candidate for the upcoming US Presidential Election, Joe Biden has assured them he is in good health. President Biden, in a private meeting with Democratic governors at the White House, on Wednesday night said he had a medical checkup following last week’s debate and was in good health.

But Americans are not happy with Biden’s recent debate performance against former President Donald Trump and want him to step down from the presidential race given his age and stumbles now and then. Some Democrats are even in panic and looking for alternatives to replace Biden. Their list includes Vice President Kamala Harris, Gavin Newsom, Gretchen Whitmer, and Josh Shapiro.

However, Joe Biden is not keen to step down from the race. He said the last few days, since the debate, have been difficult, with speculations about him not being fit for another term. But Biden is adamant to run, highlighting that he is the nominee of the Democratic Party and no one’s pushing him out. He said is not leaving.

Kamala Harris Should Replace Joe Biden

Rev. Al Sharpton, a civil rights activist and an MSNBC host, believes Vice President Kamala Harris, 59, is the alternative that Democrats are looking for. He said she has always been good and is just better. Al Sharpton pointed out that when people voted for Biden to be the nominee, they were voting for the Biden-Harris ticket. He asked how that ticket could be now separated. The political commentator said there is no legitimate excuse.

Donna Brazile, who plays a key role in the 2024 Democratic National Convention in August, says the only person who can step in right away if Biden decides to step down is Harris. She highlighted that it’s a Biden-Harris ticket and the Vice President is number two on that ticket.

Tim Ryan, former Democratic Rep, also believes it should be Harris. He said she was right there for three-and-a-half-years running the campaign and the country with Biden. Ryan believes Harris would be able to talk about it much clearer than Biden would be able to.

However, Harris is not keen on running in Biden’s place. In a CBS interview, she said Biden is their nominee and she is proud to be his running mate.
