Hindus Decry Attack at Sabha Temple In Brampton, Blame Khalistani Sympathisers In Canada

Canada-India relations are once again in the spotlight after worshippers were attacked at a Hindu Sabha Temple in Brampton, Ontario. Videos circulating on social media show people involved in fist fights and striking each other with poles in the Hindu Sabha Mandir grounds.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau took to his X (formerly Twitter) account to condemn the violence. He said the acts of violence at the Hindu Sabha Mandir in Brampton are unacceptable. The Canadian prime minister highlighted that every Canadian has the right to practice their faith freely and safely.

Chandra Arya, Member of the House of Commons of Canada, said a red line has been crossed by Canadian Khalistani extremists. He said the attack by Khalistanis on the Hindu-Canadian devotees inside the premises of the Hindu Sabha temple in Brampton shows how deep and brazen has Khalistani violent extremism has become in Canada.

Canada Politicians Condemn Violence

Patrick Brown, Brampton Mayor, condemned the violence saying those responsible should be held accountable. He highlighted that religious freedom is a foundational value in Canada and everyone should feel safe in their respective place of worship.

The Premier of Ontario, Doug Ford said the violence at the Hindu Sabha Mandir in Sabha in Brampton is completely unacceptable. He emphasized that no one should feel unsafe in their place of worship. Jagmeet Singh, Canadian MP and leader of the New Democratic Party, said violence anywhere is wrong and called for peace with fellow community leaders and politicians.

Meanwhile the Peel Regional Police said nobody has been arrested or charged. It has increased visible presence to monitor and respond to unlawful activities.
