Israel is on high alert and launched fresh strikes on the already dilapidated Gaza, which once used to be the most densely populated territory in the world, as it marks the first anniversary of the October 7 attacks.
Israel Intensifies War In Gaza And Lebanon A Year Since October 7
It has been one year since Hamas carried out Operation Al Aqsa Flood in Israel and self-defense, Israel razed Gaza, killing nearly 50,000 Palestinians with the majority being women and children. And thousands have been left badly injured. Hundreds of thousands of families in Gaza have been displaced, and now Israel is doing the same in Lebanon to eradicate Hezbollah.
Hamas militants had taken about 250 Israelis hostage on October 7. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been going back and forth with the ceasefire deal. At the same time, Hamas called for a stable ceasefire deal and the release of Palestinian prisoners in Israel’s captivity. But IDF killed Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh who was negotiating for a ceasefire deal and there’s also the recent assassination of Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah.
Israel is enraged and has vowed to wipe out Hamas and Hezbollah off the face of the earth at the cost of human lives. And it continues to do so with the support of its biggest and strongest ally, the United States of America.
US’s Continuous Support of Israel
In a recent interview with 60 Minutes, US Vice President Kamala Harris said the United States aid and assistance allowed Israel to defend itself against 200 ballistic missiles. “When we think about the threat that Hamas, Hezbollah, presents, Iran, I think that it is our imperative to do what we can to all Israel to defend itself against those kinds of attacks.”
Harris highlighted that the diplomatic work Washington does with the leadership of Israel is an ongoing pursuit of making their principles clear. It includes the need for humanitarian aid, the need for the war to end, and the need for a deal to be done – which would release the hostages and get a ceasefire deal done.

Will Israel Succeed Against Hamas and Hezbollah?
With Israeli strikes at their peak with war in Gaza and Lebanon, it’s still unclear how Israel will eradicate Hamas and Hezbollah. The region has been engulfed in conflict for a year now and world leaders, particularly the French president, have called for a halt in arms exports to Israel to stop the war.
Experts say militant groups like Hamas and Hezbollah are an ideological movement and unlikely to be wiped out. Both groups have been weakened by IDF’s continued bombing, but they continue to fire missiles into Israel. For instance, a couple of hours ago Hezbollah fired rockets into Haifa, a port city in Israel’s north. This caught the IDF off guard as it scrambled to establish what went wrong with its air defense system.
