Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have neutralized senior Hamas and Hezbollah leaders in recent weeks, highlighting a weakening resistant front and the need to secure the release of the remaining Israeli hostages.
The US Secretary of State Antony Blinken was in Tel Aviv urging Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to capitalize on last week’s killing of Hamas’ leader Yahya Sinwar by ending the war in Gaza. He believes this will provide a new opportunity for peace in the war-torn region.
The US State Department in a statement said Blinken emphasized the need to secure the release of all hostages and ending the conflict in Gaza. Netanyahu agreed that Sinawar’s elimination may have a positive effect on the return of hostages, Israel’s achievement of its war goals, and the day after the war.
However, he reiterated that the Israel-Gaza war will continue until Hamas, the Palestinian militant group, has been utterly destroyed. Israeli prime minister also highlighted the need to change the security and political situation in Lebanon. He said doing so would allow Israelis to return to their homes safely.

Hezbollah Hits Israel Glilot Base
With Blinken in Tel Aviv, Hezbollah targeted the Glilot, the base of Israel’s military intelligence unit. The IDF intercepted two projectiles fired from Lebanon into Israel, and there were reports of shrapnel falling in Herzliya and Ramat Hasharon. The Lebanon-based militant group and Israel news confirmed hitting the Glilot base of Military Intelligence Unit 8200 in the suburbs of Tel Aviv.
Hezbollah’s latest salvo of rockets comes amid the killing of the group’s successor Hashem Safieddine three weeks ago in Beirut. This has been claimed by Israel’s military but not confirmed by Hezbollah.
