Justin Trudeau Faces Potential Coup, MPs Demand Canadian PM To Step Down Amid India Row. MPs in Canada are not happy with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and word is that they have demanded he step down. 24 MPs signed a petition asking the Liberal leader to step down.
Sources say Patrick Weiler, a British Colombia MP, read out a separate document that highlighted the arguments for Trudeau’s resignation during a closed-door meeting. According to CBC, the MPs were given two minutes each in the three-hour-long meeting to speak their mind. 20 MPs, none of whom were cabinet ministers, urged the Canadian prime minister to step aside before the next election.
But some MPs also voiced their support for Justin Trudeau. Mark Holland, the Canadian Health Minister, highlighted his conviction that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is the right person to lead the country. The National Defense Minister Bill Blair described the discussions in the meeting as healthy, excellent, and robust. He said they are united behind their leader.
Francois-Philippe Champagne, Industry Minister, said the meeting was the type of discussion that Canadians would be proud to see. He added that in the end what matters is that they came out of the caucus meeting united and resolved.

Justin Trudeau Given Ultimatum
However, the dissident MPs have given their prime minister Justin Trudeau until October 28 to make his decision. MP Nathaniel Erskine-Smith believes their prime minister can turn things around. He said it’s up to Trudeau to reflect on what he hears from the caucus and come back with a plan.
Erskine-Smith added that the PM has to listen to their frustrations – the valid frustrations of his caucus colleagues and make changes moving forward.
