US presidential election hopeful Kamala Harris has picked former football coach Tim Walz, who is the governor of Minnesota, as her running mate. She introduced Walz as ‘one of the best marksmen’ on Capitol Hill to a rally in Pennsylvania.
The Vice President of the United States told thousands of Democrat supporters that they were the underdogs in the presidential race. Harris described Walz, who was a high school social studies teacher, as the kind of mentor that every child in the US dreams about and deserves. She told supporters that he would be ready on Day One.
Comparing Donald Trump’s VP-select JD Vance to Walz, Harris said it’s like a matchup between the varsity team and the JV squad.

Who is Tim Walz?
Walz, 60, is a well-respected member of the Democrats. He is from Nebraska and served in the Army National Guard for 24 years which had him deployed in domestic and overseas missions. Walz also taught in a high school in China, Nebraska and, Minnesota, as well as coached a football team.
He is the head of the Democratic Governor’s Association and now, he has been pivoted as Harris’ running mate for vice president. Harris touted Walz as the highest-ranking enlisted man to ever serve in Congress.
He has made many achievements as Governor of Minnesota, including signing legislation to provide paid family and medical leave and protecting the right to abortion following the reversal of Roe vs. Wade. Walz also made in-roads in the state on gun safety.

Fellow politician and Senator Joe Manchin said Walz will bring normality back to America’s chaotic political environment. He believes there’s no one better than Walz to bring the country and its people closer together and balance back to the Democrats.
