US President Donald Trump has stepped up on his election campaign promise to deport millions of undocumented migrants by revoking the legal status of the Biden-era CBP One app. Migrants, who were temporarily allowed to live in the US via the CBP One app, have been ordered to leave the country ‘immediately’, and urged to voluntarily ‘self-deport’ using the same app which has been renamed to CBP Home.
Through this, former President Joe Biden created and expanded legal pathways to enter the United States and a tactic to discourage illegal border crossings. Since January 2023, over 900,000 people have been allowed into the US. They were allowed to remain in the country for two years with authorization to work under parole.
The Department of Homeland Security said canceling these paroles is a promise kept to the American people to secure their borders and protect national security. It highlighted that Biden’s use of parole authority was more than any president since it was created in 1952. Homeland Security said this had fueled the worst border crisis in US history.

Migrants Ordered To Leave ‘Immediately’

The federal agency warned migrants that if they don’t depart the United States immediately, they will be subject to potential law enforcement actions. Alerts received by hundreds of thousands of affected migrants read “DHS is terminating your parole Do not attempt to remain in the United States – the federal government will find you. Please depart the United States immediately.”
The latest move follows the cancellation of another form of parole for 532,000 people from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela who flew into the United States at their own expense with a financial sponsor. This comes into effect on Apr. 24. Moreover, the Trump administration has ended the Temporary Protected Status for hundreds of thousands of Haitians.
