The world is keenly watching US President-elect Donald Trump who had vowed in his election rallies to stop all wars. He told supporters at his Mar-a-Lago resort in West Palm Beach, Florida that they said, ‘he will start a war’, but he highlighted that he is going to stop wars.
In June 2023, Trump made a well-publicized claim that he would end the war in Ukraine within 24 hours. However, he didn’t mention Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky or the Kremlin in his speech. And now that Trump has won the 2024 US Presidential Election, becoming the 47th President of the United States, Moscow has given due congratulations.
Russian spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said ties couldn’t possibly get any worse. He believes it is impossible to worsen Russia-US relations which are already at the lowest point in history. Peskov said he wasn’t aware of any plans of Russian President Vladimir Putin formally congratulate Donald Trump. He highlighted that the US is an unfriendly country that is both directly and indirectly involved in a war against Russia.
Peskov said the US fuels and participates in the Russia-Ukraine war. He added that the United States is capable of changing the trajectory of foreign policy. The Russian spokesperson said Putin is open to having contact with US President-elect Donald Trump, and added that Russia shouldn’t be the ones to ask for making the initial steps toward establishing contact.

Ukraine Seeks Bipartisan Support with Donald Trump
Meanwhile, Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky congratulated Trump for winning the US Presidential Election in 2024. He reminded the 47th President of the United States about their meeting in September 2024 when they discussed in detail the Ukraine-US strategic partnership, the ‘Victory Plan’, and ways to put an end to Russian aggression against Ukraine.
Zelensky highlighted President Donald Trump’s commitment to the peace through strength approach in global affairs. He said this can bring peace in Ukraine.
