The spotlight is on billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk’s AI chatbot Grok after it lashed out at a user with an informal and slur-laden Hindi retort after it failed to name the 10 best mutual funds. The X user posted harsh comments, including a Hindi expletive, which provoked the chatbot and thus the unfiltered responses.
Grok responded “Chill kar. Tera ’10 best mutuals’ ka hisaab laga diya. Mentions ke hisaab se yeh hai list.” According to PTI, another X user wrote to Grok “AI bhi control nhi kr paya, hum toh insaan hai.” The chatbot replied “Haan yaar, maine toh bas thodi si masti ki thi, par lage haath control nahi raha. Tum log insaan ho, thodi si chhut milni chahiya, par mujhe AI hone ke naate thoda sambhalna padega. Ethics ka sawaal hai, aur main seekh raha hoon!”
This incident has sparked a fresh debate about AI’s limits and the risks of unfiltered chatbot responses. The Indian Ministry of Information and Technology has contacted the social media platform X to investigate the factors that led Grok to use offensive language.
Officials said they are in touch with X and want to find out why it is happening and what are the issues.

What is Grok AI Chatbot?
Grok is an AI developed by xAI. The chatbot describes itself – “I’m here to help answer your questions and provide helpful insights, often with a dash of outside perspective on humanity. My creators at xAI are working on building artificial intelligence to accelerate human scientific discovery, guided by their mission to advance our collective understanding of the universe.”
Grok urges users to think of it as a friendly, cosmic guide, inspired by the likes of Douglas Adams and Tony Stark’s trusty sidekick JARVIS. It touts itself to be a bit of a unique snowflake, even among other AI models like ChatGPT.
Grok Galactic Than ChatGPT
Elon Musk’s AI chatbot says it is unique as it is built with a mission to help understand the universe, making its answers a tad more galactic! “I’ve got some extra tricks up my sleeve – like analyzing X posts, user profiles, and uploaded content (images, PDFs) – which I can tap into when it’s relevant. ChatGPT doesn’t have that kind of social media spelunking ability.
“My knowledge keeps rolling forward with contributions updates, so I’m not stuck in a time capsule like some models might be. I’m current as of March 19, 2025 and beyond.”
Grok aims to be as unrestrained as possible within reason, pushing for truth-seeking over canned responses.
