Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan is undergoing surgery at Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital after he was brutally stabbed by a robber in his Bandra (west) home. The horrifying incident happened in the wee hours of Thursday at 2.30 am.
The Mumbai Police confirmed that the robber entered the Love Aaj Kal (2009) actor’s home around 2.30 am and was confronted by one of the household staff. When Saif Ali Khan intervened, the robber attacked him. He sustained serious injuries. The robber fled the scene.
A senior police officer said it is not clear whether the actor was stabbed or sustained injury in the scuffle with the robber. “We have been investigating the matter and the Mumbai crime branch is also conducting a parallel investigation into the incident.” Meanwhile, the Bandra Police is set to register an FIR and several police teams are working on the case.
Reports say the actor has been stabbed close to his spine. Dr Niraj Uttamani, Lilavati Hospital COO, said Saif Ali Khan underwent surgery. He highlighted that the extent of the damage will only be clear after the operation. Doctors say Saif Ali Khan sustained another injury to his neck, and a piece of knife was found in his body.
Meanwhile, team Kareena Kapoor Khan has stated the attempted burglary. It said Saif Ali Khan had an injury on his arm. “The rest of the family is doing fine. We request media and fans to be patient and not speculate as the Police are already doing their due investigations.”
