4-Time MLA Mohan Charan Majhi To Be BJP’s First Odisha Chief Minister. Mohan Charan Majhi, a 4-time MLA, is set to be BJP’s chief minister in Odisha after Biju Janata Dal (BJD) Naveen Patnaik’s tenure ended in a massive defeat in the State Assembly elections. Majhi won the Keonjhar seat with a huge 87,815 votes.

He is touted as an experienced politician and is now BJP’s chief minister select. The Minister of Defense Rajnath Singh announced Majhi’s appointment on X (formerly Twitter). He said Majhi was elected unanimously as the leader of Odisha BJP Legislature Party. Singh described the Manjhi as a young and dynamic party in Karyakarta that will take the state forward on the road to progress and prosperity.

He added that KV Singh Deo and Pravati Parida will be Odisha state’s deputy chief ministers. But this will not be easy for the Bharatiya Janata Party, as it has stepped into the coastal state after BJD’s 24-year reign.

Who is Mohan Charan Majhi

Majhi, 52, is from a tribal community and was first elected into the Odisha assembly in the year 2000. He is regarded for his public service and organizational skills. Moreover, Majhi is a member of the Standing Committee of S.C. & S.T. under the ORV Act. He has a BA degree from Chandra Sekhar College and a LLB degree from Dhenkanal Law College.

Majhi recently claimed victory in the assembly elections, wherein he won 74 seats in the 147-member House. He will be sworn in as Odisha chief minister on June 12.
