Union Home Minister Amit Shah wants Odisha to have a youthful hard-working chief minister. During a poll rally in Sambalpur, he touted Odisha as a very beautiful place with a long coastline and lot of mineral wealth. However, he said the state lacks a young leader.
Shah urged the people to help form a BJP government and in return, they would be given a “hard-working young CM”. He alleged the state’s BJD government, led by Navin Patnaik, of insulting Odisha’s language, culture, and tradition.
Odisha Jagannath Mandir
The BJP government has been putting the spotlight on Odisha’s Jagannath Mandir. Shah said the BJD government wanted to convert this temple to a commercial centre, and claimed that the four gates of the temple are yet to be opened to the public.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on May 20 in Odisha’s Puri during his election campaign that the Jagannath Mandir is not safe under the current BJD government. He alleged that the keys of the Ratna Bhandar have been missing for six years. Modi said the Bharatiya Janata Party will make the report of the commission of inquiry public when the party forms government in Odisha. He drew attention to the state’s lack of development, despite abundance of natural resources. The PM said youths and farmers in search of employment were leaving Odisha for other states.
He urged the people of Odisha to give a chance to BJP. Modi said they have been voting in the Biju Janta Dal (BJD) for the past 25 years. He promised that with BJP, the people of Odisha will get a CM from amongst them who very well knows the state’s tradition and culture.
Mafia Running Odisha
Moreover, BJP leaders claimed that corrupt people and mafias have run the state of Odisha aground. Modi told the rally that Odisha was being run by a mafia, that controlled everything and did not allow anyone to compete. He highlighted that there hasn’t been any visible development in the state’s mining sector due to mismanagement of funds and politics.
Modi said the BJP has taken note of everything and will bring all to fore once it comes to power. He believes Odisha’s culture and tradition, as well as its mineral wealth was not safe under BJD. Modi urged the people to bring about a change by voting the BJP into power in the state. He said it’s time for a change.
