BRICS 2024: India Supports Dialogue And Diplomacy, Not War: PM Modi. The world’s focus is on the 16th BRICS Summit in Kazan, Russia where 24 state leaders have gathered to bolster their alliance, relations, and geopolitics amid the ongoing Ukraine war.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is attending the three-day event with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping. He made it clear that there is no place for double standards on serious issues like terrorism and terror financing.  Modi said world leaders have to be united and strongly deal with terror financing and terrorism.

The Indian leader also highlighted his support for dialogue and diplomacy rather than war. PM Modi pointed out their collective efforts and collaborations to take major health challenges like the COVID-19 pandemic. Modi said they are fully capable of creating new opportunities for a safe, empowered, and prosperous future.

Many Expectations of BRICS

PM Modi highlighted that BRICS, which is a diverse and inclusive platform, can play a positive role in all issues. He said their approach should remain people-centric. The Indian leader asserted that BRICS should give the message to the world that the platform is not divisive but a public interest group.

He added that India is eager to welcome new countries as BRICS Partner Countries. PM Modi said the guiding principles, standards, criteria, and procedures that the member countries adopted at the Johannesburg Summit should be followed by all member and partner countries.

He urged the group to move together and forward in a timely manner for reforms in global institutions – Multilateral Development Banks, UN Security Council, WTO, etc.
