Sambit Patra is adamant about setting his wrong – ‘slip of the tongue’ in Odisha that Lord Jagannath is a devotee of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, right by fasting for three days. His statement landed him in hot water and backlash from the people.

Patra, BJP’s Puri Lok Sabha seat candidate, apologized saying that it was a slip of tongue. He told a news agency that Modi is a passionate devotee of Maha Prabhu Jagannath. Patra claimed that the prime minister used to regularly visit and offer prayers at the Lord Jagannath Temple in Ahmedabad.

Acknowledging his recent words, Patra said it was quite hot, and noisy as many people had gathered. He added that unknowingly, he said the opposite of what he had been wanting to say and he mistakenly said that Lord Jagannath is a devotee of PM Modi. He highlighted that no person in their right mind can say the word he had uttered. Patra clarified that it wasn’t his intention to do so. He pointed out that he himself is also a devotee of Lord Jagannath.
