SpaceX Achieves First-Ever Commercial Space Walk With Polaris Dawn Mission. Mankind witnessed the first-ever commercial spacewalk, also called extravehicular activity (EVA), thanks to SpaceX’s Polaris Dawn mission. Billionaires Jared Isaacman and Sarah Gillis have set a trend for the world’s ultra-rich for a usual walk in space. There’s a live webcast of the event on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) and the Space X platform, as well as on the new X TV app.

According to the Polaris Dawn Flight Day 2 Update, an incredible milestone was achieved when the Dragon capsule reached an apogee of more than 1,400 kilometers. This marked the farthest humans have traveled in space since the completion of the Apollo program more than 50 years ago.

Gillis, a mission specialist, and Anna Menon, who is also a mission specialist and medical officer, are the first two women to have traveled far into space.

The Dragon capsule, after completing six orbits of planet Earth, performed a series of descent burns reaching an orbit of 190 x 700 km for the first commercial spacewalk. It simultaneously lowered its interior’s pressure.

In preparation for the mission, the crew was shown the suit’s pressurized mobility, positions, and accessibility in microgravity. They also conducted a series of activities on orbit.
