US President-elect Donald Trump has picked former Democratic representative Tulsi Gabbard for Director of National Intelligence. Gabbard is an Army veteran. She served in Iraq in the medical unit in 2004 and 2005 and was stationed in Kuwait from 2008 to 2009 as Army Military Police platoon leader.
Gabbard became a Major with the Hawaii Army National Guard in 2015, and in 2020 she was transferred to the US Army Reserve and climbed the ranks of Lieutenant colonel within a year. Donald Trump said Tulsi has fought for the Country and the Freedoms of all Americans for over two decades and has the support of both the parties – the Democrat and Republican.
Trump believes Tulsi Gabbard will bring the fearless spirit that has defined her illustrious career to America’s Intelligence Community, champion constitutional rights, and secure peace through strength. The former Congresswoman said she would be honored to serve in the Trump administration.

Who is Tulsi Gabbard?
Tulsi Gabbard, 43, emerged in the spotlight when she was elected to Hawaii’s House of Representatives at just 21 years of age, but had to leave after one term for Iraq. She later joined Congress representing Hawaii. Gabbard was also the first Hindu elected to the Congress. She took to office having sworn on the Bhagavad Gita.
Tulsi Gabbard is an American Samoan. She was born in American Samoa and raised in Hawaii. Gabbard was the fourth of five children, her parents being Carol Gabbard and Mike Gabbard (state senator). She has European and Samoan ancestry. Gabbard has a Hindu name owing to her mother, who was interested in Hinduism and ended up giving her children Hindu names.
In 2020, Tulsi Gabbard ran for president, describing herself as an Iraq War veteran with an anti-interventionist foreign policy.

Tulsi Gabbard Anti-War Policies
Tulsi Gabbard has voiced her opposition to US involvement in foreign military conflicts. She criticized the then Senator Kamala Harris saying that US wars in the Middle East had destabilized the region made the United States less safe and cost thousands of American lives.
Gabbard blamed both the Democrats and Republicans for not opposing the war. She applauded Donald Trump for not starting new wars during his term in office 2016 – 2020.
