End Of An Era – Ratan Tata Passes Away At 86, To Get State Funeral

Indian industrialist Ratan Tata of the renowned conglomerate Tata Group passed away after a long illness at 86. He was in critical condition in the intensive care unit of the hospital in Mumbai where he succumbed on Wednesday.

His death comes after he brushed off rumors in a social media post on October 7 saying he is undergoing medical check-ups due to his age and related medical conditions.

N Chandrasekaran, Tata Sons Chairman, confirmed the industrialist’s demise on microblogging platform X (formerly Twitter). “It is with a profound sense of loss that we bid farewell to Mr Ratan Navel Tata, a truly uncommon leader whose immeasurable contributions have shaped not only the Tata Group but also the very fabric of our nation.”

Anand Mahindra, Chairman of Mahindra Group, paid his tributes to the iconic businessman and visionary, saying he could not accept Ratan Tata’s absence. He highlighted that India’s economy stands on the cusp of a historic leap forward and Ratan’s life and work have had much to do with the country’s position.

“His mentorship and guidance at this point would have been invaluable. With him gone, all we can do is to commit to emulating his example because he was a businessman for whom financial wealth and success were most useful when it was put to the service of the global community.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also described Ratan Tata as a visionary leader, a compassionate soul, and an extraordinary human being:

Aaditya Thackeray, President of Yuva Sena, said Ratan Tata excelled at philanthropy. He was also compassionate for animals.
